Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum one year clerical medical office experience
- Experience with insurance verification and pre-scheduled procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Typing speed of 50 words per minute
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Valid BLS certification
- Understanding of healthcare compliance and regulatory standards
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and manage workload efficiently
- Familiarity with EMR systems and medical record management
- Availability to work varied schedules Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- One to two years minimum experience in clerical medical office roles
- Prior ambulatory surgery center (ASC) experience preferred
- Experience in insurance verification for pre-scheduled procedures
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Typing skills at 50 words per minute
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- BLS certification
- Knowledge of The Joint Commission and Title 22 standards
- Familiarity with healthcare policies and regulatory compliance
- Ability to interact effectively with clinical personnel medical staff and the public
- Proficient with PC applications
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to calculate figures such as proportions percentages circumference and volume
- Ability to analyze problems collect data and draw valid conclusions
Job Duties
- Ensures a positive first impression by exhibiting a consistently positive friendly and open demeanor conducive to greeting patients and visitors to the facility
- Manages medical records ensuring all charts and record requests are completed within the required time frame
- Obtains and scans documents into the EMR program
- Verifies patient admission type and ensures information matches the physician order and makes corrections when necessary
- Verifies authorization requirements for services from Health Plan and/or Medical Group and obtains authorization for admission or pre-scheduled procedures from insurance companies when required
- Verifies insurance coverage eligibility benefits and patient liability
- Informs patients 1-2 days prior to service of co-pay amounts and financial responsibility
- Calculates patient financial responsibility at time of service and paperwork
- Collects co-pays from patients upon arrival and balances daily cash
- Acts as backup for the Receptionist and schedulers
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Works varied schedule based on scheduled cases Monday through Friday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm
