Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting is a plus
  • Familiarity with health insurance and insurance verification
  • Knowledge of general office equipment including telephones, credit card machines, and fax
  • Proficiency with computer software including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple demands
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to stand, walk, use hands, reach, sit, talk, and listen
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, standby, on-call, and according to operational need
  • Ability to comply with HIPAA and company policies
  • Solid work history

Job Duties

  • Greeting patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner both in-person and over the phone
  • Check patients in and out
  • Verify benefits and collect copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles
  • Assist staff and patients with clerical duties including copying, scanning, and faxing documents
  • Create and maintain patient files
  • Screen phone calls and direct them appropriately, take and direct messages
  • Provide callers with company information such as address, directions, fax numbers, and website
  • Confirm all paperwork is completed correctly
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentability of the front desk, waiting room, and children’s play area
  • Perform light housekeeping duties including emptying trash, vacuuming, mopping floors, and cleaning counters
  • Foster a friendly and respectful work environment
  • Provide customer-focused, friendly, and reassuring support to patients and families
  • Follow all HIPAA policies and company procedures
