Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years experience in a medical office environment
- proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
- knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and ability to manage confidential patient information
- strong communication and organizational skills
- ability to handle financial transactions and perform end-of-day reconciliations
- capability to work under general office environmental conditions
- ability to sit for extended periods and utilize close visual acuity
- occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching
- able to lift 20 pounds occasionally
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1-2 years experience in medical office environment
- Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience
- strong communication, organizational skills, customer service, and knowledge of HIPAA regulations
Job Duties
- Professionally answer and route incoming telephone calls in accordance with established office guidelines
- obtain, review, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy and completeness
- issue and manage confidentiality, privacy, and HIPAA-related documentation for patients and visitors
- scan and index patient demographic and registration documents into the electronic record system
- verify insurance coverage and eligibility
- schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments efficiently
- contact patients with appointment reminders and follow-up communications as needed
- collect co-payments and outstanding patient balances
- perform end-of-day reconciliation, including balancing payments and preparing daily financial reports
- maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service at all times
