Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1-2 years experience in a medical office environment
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and ability to manage confidential patient information
  • strong communication and organizational skills
  • ability to handle financial transactions and perform end-of-day reconciliations
  • capability to work under general office environmental conditions
  • ability to sit for extended periods and utilize close visual acuity
  • occasional standing, walking, stooping, kneeling or crouching
  • able to lift 20 pounds occasionally

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1-2 years experience in medical office environment
  • Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) experience
  • strong communication, organizational skills, customer service, and knowledge of HIPAA regulations

Job Duties

  • Professionally answer and route incoming telephone calls in accordance with established office guidelines
  • obtain, review, verify, and update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • issue and manage confidentiality, privacy, and HIPAA-related documentation for patients and visitors
  • scan and index patient demographic and registration documents into the electronic record system
  • verify insurance coverage and eligibility
  • schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments efficiently
  • contact patients with appointment reminders and follow-up communications as needed
  • collect co-payments and outstanding patient balances
  • perform end-of-day reconciliation, including balancing payments and preparing daily financial reports
  • maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and customer service at all times
