Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred
  • Availability to work in person on specified event dates and times
  • Background check required
  • Ability to walk, climb stairs, and occasionally sit during shifts

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Supervisory experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships
  • Preferred CPR and First Aid certification
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Appreciation for diverse musical genres including classical, jazz, global, and gospel music
  • Tessitura software experience is a plus
  • Experience working with diverse audiences and handling escalated patron interactions

Job Duties

  • Advance arrival for pre-show orientation with Washington Performing Arts and Venue staff
  • Facilitate advance ADA requests and provide assistance to guests with special needs
  • Lead and train usher orientation and supervise ushers including safety orientation and location assignments
  • Greet patrons, answer questions, provide directions, and maintain organized lines
  • Examine tickets, distribute programs, verify credentials, and manage late seating and house order
  • Assist with resolving ticketing issues in collaboration with Patron Services staff
  • Ensure patron safety and enjoyment during events, coordinate with venue security, and manage emergency evacuations
  • Direct patrons to nearest exit at the end of the program
