Job Requirements

  • H-E-B School of Retail Management training
  • 1+ years of experience in retail management
  • Leadership experience with multiple direct reports
  • SRS certification
  • Food safety certification
  • Completion of required Department training
  • Completion of forklift/power jack training
  • Proficiency in MS Office software including Word and Excel
  • Advanced customer service skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Ability to lift and carry 40-60 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, squat, and reach overhead and side to side throughout shift
  • Ability to safely maneuver high and precarious places
  • Ability to work extended hours and varying schedules including weekends and nights

Job Duties

  • Spend majority of time using independent judgment making employment-related and business decisions including hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding or resolving Partner-related matters
  • Manage large staff including interviewing, hiring, training and development, delivering performance appraisals, providing feedback, scheduling, counseling and terminating
  • Assist overall Central Checkout Department operations and serve in a manager capacity during Store Director or Assistant Store Director absence
  • Provide work direction, training, and feedback to Department Partners and ensure all Department standards are met
  • Manage individual Partner productivity
  • Convey appropriate sense of urgency in dealing with Partner and Customer issues
  • Coach, train, and develop Partners
  • Manage Partner morale and retention
  • Write and administer effective documentation
  • Manage Central Checkout activity and administer Department standards and guidelines fairly and consistently
  • Research and analyze potential or existing process breakdowns and work with necessary Partners to identify and solve problems
  • Train School of Retail Management and School of Retail Leadership trainees
  • Build relationships with Customers and build customer service through Partners
  • Perform duties of Hourly Manager
  • Periodically perform duties of all Service Partners
  • Achieve sales goals, prepare projections and forecasts, review financial tracking information, address performance opportunities and budget discrepancies, communicate sales goals to Partners
  • Promote Corporate and Store events through planning, merchandising, and traffic management
  • Ensure compliance with government and company regulations and standards for product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
  • Maintain safety and sanitation of equipment and Department
  • Maintain sanitation standards throughout work area
