Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 1 year experience in retail management
  • Leadership experience managing multiple direct reports
  • Completion of H-E-B School of Retail Management training
  • SRS Certification
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Completion of department-specific training including forklift and power jack
  • Proficiency in MS Office and H-E-B systems
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment
  • Physical ability to lift 40 to 60 lbs regularly
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, squatting, and maneuvering in high or precarious places
  • Able to work extended hours including nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to maintain composure in high-stress situations
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of H-E-B School of Retail Management training
  • Minimum 1 year of retail management experience
  • Leadership experience with multiple direct reports
  • SRS Certification
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Completion of required Department training including forklift and power jack operation
  • Proficiency in MS Office software including Word and Excel
  • Advanced customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organization and planning abilities
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to delegate, organize, and plan effectively
  • Ability to maintain efficient operations and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions
  • Ability to supervise, train, motivate, and cross-train staff

Job Duties

  • Make employment-related and business decisions independently or by recommending decisions including hiring, promoting, disciplining, suspending, discharging, rewarding or resolving Partner-related matters
  • Manage a large staff including interviewing, hiring, training, development, delivering on-time performance appraisals, providing feedback, scheduling, counseling, and terminating
  • Assist overall Central Checkout Department operations and serve as manager during Store Director or Assistant Store Director absence
  • Provide work direction, training, and feedback to Department Partners ensuring all standards are met
  • Manage individual Partner productivity
  • Convey a sense of urgency in handling Partner and Customer issues
  • Coach, train, and develop Partners
  • Manage Partner morale and retention
  • Write and administer documentation effectively
  • Manage Central Checkout activity and administer Department standards fairly and consistently
  • Research and analyze process breakdowns and work with Partners to identify and solve problems
  • Train SORM and SORL trainees
  • Build relationships with customers and enhance customer service through Partners
  • Perform duties of Hourly Manager
  • Periodically perform duties of all Service Partners
  • Achieve sales goals, prepare projections and forecasts, review financial tracking, address performance opportunities and budget discrepancies
  • Promote Corporate and Store events through planning and merchandising
  • Ensure compliance with government and company regulations on product freshness, safety, refrigeration, and sanitation
  • Maintain safety and sanitation of equipment and Department
  • Maintain sanitation standards throughout the work area
