Job Requirements

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • communication skills
  • ability to speak effectively to customers or employees or organization
  • ability to understand carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • knowledge of death and dying issues and awareness of hospice mission and philosophy
  • knowledge of medical terminology
  • computer skills with Word, Outlook, Excel, Internet Explorer

Job Duties

  • Answers telephone and routes calls and messages to appropriate staff
  • greets visitors and directs them to the proper staff or meeting room
  • addresses and manages email messages timely
  • performs office activities to promote smooth operation and organizational goals
  • ensures phone switch to answering service at 4:30 PM with accurate after-hours coverage information
  • retrieves messages left overnight
  • receives shipments from USPS, UPS, FedEx and distributes them to appropriate staff
