Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- prior clerical or receptionist experience preferred
- knowledge of health and human services department regulations and procedures
- ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with state and federal laws
- ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- capacity to sit for extended periods and perform intermittent standing and walking
- valid availability for part-time schedule including every monday plus every other friday, saturday, and sunday
- ability to work on-call hours as needed
Job Qualifications
- proficiency in microsoft office programs including word, excel, and outlook
- ability to operate office equipment such as computers, calculators, copiers, and fax machines
- typing speed of 40 net words per minute or greater
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- ability to print and write legibly
- ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public
- excellent phone etiquette
- ability to work a flexible schedule
- ability to work independently with good judgment
Job Duties
- maintain the confidential nature of client and business information per departmental standards and state/federal confidentiality laws
- answer incoming phone calls and redirect inquiries as appropriate
- greet clients and visitors and provide information
- notify staff when clients or visitors arrive and are waiting
- handle payments, issue receipts, and account for monies
- obtain information for completion of forms and documents
- maintain computer information systems
- monitor video surveillance and report issues
- develop and maintain files
- prepare office for business and close office when applicable
- assist with various projects and programs
- maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment
- attend training and meetings
- perform specialized clerical assignments with minimal supervision
- perform data entry functions
- assist staff with clerical needs such as faxing, copying, and printing
- sort and distribute mail and correspondence
- accurately handle and reconcile resident trust funds
- assist with petty cash management
- perform related functions as assigned
