Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize duties effectively
  • Knowledge of health insurance processes and verification
  • Proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality following HIPAA policies
  • Physical capability to perform standing, walking, lifting up to 10 pounds, and use of hands
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts as needed
  • Positive and professional demeanor
  • Familiarity with general office equipment
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service in a healthcare setting

  • Knowledge and skills regarding general office equipment including telephones, credit card machines, and fax
  • Computer literacy including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Exceptional communication skills and customer service
  • Solid work history

Job Duties

  • Greet patients in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner in person and over the phone
  • Check patients in and out
  • Verify benefits and collect copayments, coinsurance, and deductibles
  • Assist staff and patients with clerical duties such as copying, scanning, and faxing documents
  • Create and maintain patient files
  • Screen phone calls and direct them appropriately, take and direct messages
  • Provide callers with company information including address, directions, fax numbers, and website
  • Confirm all paperwork is filled out correctly
  • Maintain cleanliness and presentability of front desk, waiting room, and children’s play area
  • Assure a clean work environment including duties such as emptying trash, vacuuming, mopping floors, and cleaning counters
  • Encourage a friendly and respectful work environment
  • Provide patients and families with a customer-focused, friendly, and reassuring environment
  • Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures
  • Adhere to all company policies
