Job Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited technical school or three years progressively responsible experience in a medical/dental office setting
  • excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • formal computer training or equivalent work experience
  • ability to hear and speak clearly
  • vision adequate to read documents and computer screens
  • manual dexterity
  • ability to lift at least 20 pounds
  • ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • must provide own vehicle for local travel
  • may be required to travel to other sites for shift coverage

Job Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited technical school or three years progressively responsible experience in a medical/dental office setting
  • excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • formal computer training or equivalent work experience
  • knowledge of dental and medical terminology and anatomy
  • understanding of insurance and patient billing and reimbursement

Job Duties

  • Answer telephone to schedule appointments, provide information, and take messages
  • greet patients and explain services, billing procedures, and costs for services
  • schedule appointments in accordance with office policies and procedures
  • assist patients with filling out forms for initial intake and yearly updates
  • enter billing and collection data, verify insurance, and obtain authorization as needed
  • retrieve charts and patient information as required
  • file lab reports, forms, and other documents in patient records
  • set up new dental/medical charts and accounts as needed
  • enter provider schedules and make changes in practice management system
  • perform all front office, medical record room, or billing office activities as required
  • verify insurance enrollment and procedural eligibility
  • submit prior authorizations for procedures as needed
  • perform other related duties as required
