Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- one year of customer service experience
- relevant front-desk experience within a healthcare environment preferred
- certification in scheduling and registration preferred
- ability to interact with personnel of all levels
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- willingness to use personal protective equipment as needed
- physical ability to stand, walk, hear, talk, and use hands for manual tasks
- ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
- non-exempt status under FLSA
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- knowledge of medical terminology
- one year of customer service experience
- one year relevant front-desk experience within a healthcare environment preferred
- certification in scheduling and registration preferred
- ability to interact with personnel at all levels
- strong interpersonal skills
- prior experience with patient or customer information systems
- highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Job Duties
- Receives and screens visitors and telephone calls
- provides general information in person and on the telephone
- verifies patient demographic information including insurance verification prior to the patient visit
- performs data entry of patient demographic information
- registers all patients at each visit utilizing established policies
- receives and documents patient payments including co-payments and other charges
- schedules patients for physician visits
- maintains and updates appointment calendars
- processes all referral requests promptly
- notifies clinical personnel of patient arrival
- processes and delivers departmental mail
- tracks down labs and follows up on errors
- coordinates faxes, files, and office information
- processes and maintains medical records according to protocols
- checks out patients including charge entry and scheduling of future appointments
- performs other duties as assigned
