Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- minimum of 1 year experience in healthcare preferred
- knowledge of insurance verification
- ability to communicate effectively
- commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance
- ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- pass physical evaluation, urine drug screen and pre-employment background check
- fully vaccinated for COVID-19 with documented proof or approved exception
Job Qualifications
- Experience with insurance (HMO, PPO) preferred
- front desk experience preferred
- minimum of 1 year healthcare experience preferred
- understands insurance verification for new and current patients
- strong background in customer service
- competent in leadership, teamwork and cooperation
- demonstrates strong ethics and high level of personal and professional integrity
- effective communication skills, oral and written
- bilingual preferred
Job Duties
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment including unit-based safety and infection control requirements
- accurately prepare all visit paperwork at time of visit
- verify, collect and scan patient ID and insurance cards into the practice management/EHR system
- collect and scan financial, HIPAA and arbitration form signatures
- collect co-payments, coinsurance, deductibles or balances due
- update patient demographic information in the practice management system
- enter required MACRA measurements onto EHR at arrival
- scan front office documents into EHR and catalog to patient charts
- schedule follow-up, new patient, and walk-in appointments
- coordinate patient pick-up with preferred facilities
- use friendly voice and clear communication to provide information and enhance patient satisfaction
- balance cash, check and credit collections at end of day and reconcile against PM reports
- work collaboratively with registration, telephone and clinical personnel
- provide cross coverage for check-in or check-out as needed
- assist patients with form completion in person
- ensure patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
- display and provide HIPAA Notice of Privacy Practices to new patients and every three years
- comply with all medical practice regulations such as HIPAA and OSHA
- perform additional duties as assigned
