Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • prior experience in a medical or healthcare receptionist role preferred
  • ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to multitask efficiently
  • maintain emotional stability
  • ability to work collaboratively in a team
  • knowledge of patient confidentiality protocols

Job Qualifications

  • Great customer service skills
  • medical terminology knowledge specific to oncology and hematology
  • basic computer knowledge
  • previous oncology or hematology experience preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet and direct patients and visitors
  • gate keeping
  • patient registration and check-out
  • collect co-payments and deductibles and reconcile daily cash report
  • schedule and update patient appointments, blood transfusions, and diagnostic tests according to established protocol
  • answer telephone and respond to inquiries, direct callers, or initiate triage messages
  • maintain supplies and cleanliness of the front office
  • ensure maintenance of patient confidentiality
  • demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
  • accurately document in the EMR system
  • train new hires on processes and procedures of the practice
  • maintain accurate records of all scheduled appointments
  • sort incoming mail
  • verify patient's insurance information and update billing staff if changes
