Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in a medical receptionist or front desk role preferred
- strong verbal and written communication skills
- ability to maintain emotional stability in stressful healthcare situations
- ability to multitask efficiently
- ability to collaborate and organize work to meet deadlines
- ability to use electronic medical records systems
- ability to maintain patient confidentiality
Job Qualifications
- Great customer service skills
- medical terminology knowledge specific to oncology and hematology
- bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- basic computer knowledge
- previous oncology and hematology experience preferred
Job Duties
- Greet and direct patients and visitors
- gate keeping
- patient registration and check-out
- collect co-payments and deductibles and reconcile daily cash report
- schedule and update patient appointments, blood transfusions, and diagnostic tests according to established protocol
- answer telephone and respond to inquiries, direct callers or initiate triage messages for medical staff response, recording accurate messages
- maintain supplies and cleanliness of the front office
- ensure maintenance of patient confidentiality
- demonstrate exceptional customer service skills
- accurately document in the EMR system
- train new hires on office processes and procedures
- maintain accurate records of all scheduled appointments
- sort incoming mail
- verify patient's insurance information and update billing staff of any changes
