Job Requirements
- Completion of post-offer occupational health physical assessment
- Drug screen
- Background check including employment, criminal, and education verification
- Must have state of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card if working at Banner MD Anderson on the Banner University Medical Center Phoenix campus
- Ability to work Monday-Friday 8AM - 5PM
- Must work at least two shifts per month if employed as Registry/Per Diem
- Must possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have knowledge of medical terminology and insurance payor types
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree in social work, healthcare administration, or finance
- Minimum three years of experience in hospital patient registration or financial services
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Understanding of insurance and payor types, authorization requirements, and alternative financial resources
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
- Accurate and efficient keyboarding skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Flexibility to respond to multiple demands
- Bachelor's degree in social work, healthcare administration, or finance preferred
- Prior experience as social worker or financial counselor preferred
- Additional related education and/or experience preferred
Job Duties
- Perform pre-registration and registration processes
- Partner with clinical care teams to determine authorizations
- Obtain insurance benefit information including inpatient, outpatient, prescription, travel, and housing coverage
- Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations
- Document insurance and authorization data accurately in patient records
- Provide financial counseling to patients and families
- Advise patients on insurance and billing issues and financial options
- Assist uninsured patients in accessing alternative funding
- Maintain knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and other benefit programs
- Act as liaison between patients, PFS department, and insurance payors
- Calculate patient liabilities and collect deposits and co-payments
- Provide leadership and training to financial team members when needed
- Work independently with sound judgment in a high-volume setting
