Job Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma
- Medical experience required
- Ability to operate a computer and calculator
- Current valid driver's license
- Ability to walk up and down stairs
- Willingness to learn and adhere to trauma-informed care principles
- Commitment to maintaining a therapeutic, safe, and nonviolent environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks with attention to detail
- Knowledge of and experience with electronic health record systems
- Capacity to handle confidential patient information professionally
Job Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma required, Associate degree preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in a medical environment is a must
- Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures is preferred
- Ability to effectively use electronic health records and scheduling software
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Experience working with diverse populations and trauma-informed approaches
- Patience and listening skills to respond empathetically to consumer needs
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
Job Duties
- Greet clients, visitors, and vendors and provide direction in a friendly and professional manner
- Collect and update patient information including medical history and insurance
- Answer phones, screen calls, and route all incoming calls appropriately
- Scan incoming documents into EHR system and route to the proper person
- Retrieve incoming faxes and distribute to designated staff
- Collect all incoming mail for distribution and stamp outgoing mail
- Fax and upload documents within the EHR software
- Manage scheduling of initial and follow-up appointments with patients
- Facilitate internal referrals and verify insurance credentials
- Communicate pertinent consumer information clearly to responsible parties
- Contact consumers to confirm attendance at appointments
- Interact positively with patients who may be upset or stressed
- Coordinate with pharmacies and hospitals to obtain medical information as needed
- Notify clinicians immediately of any crisis situations
- Maintain accurate records and input data into the EHR system
- Perform administrative tasks like updating spreadsheets and managing documentation
