Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of six months of related experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • effective communication skills using correct English grammar including verbal and written communications
  • ability to build and maintain excellent rapport with internal and external customers, team members, community, media, and shareholders

Job Duties

  • Greets, registers, and assigns rooms to guests of the hotel
  • verifies customers' credit and establishes payment methods
  • keeps records of room availability and guests' accounts using hotel computer systems
  • computes bills, collects payments, and makes change for guests
  • performs simple bookkeeping activities such as balancing cash accounts
  • reviews accounts and charges with guests during checkout
  • posts charges for rooms, valet, laundry, food, liquor, or telephone calls to ledgers
  • transmits and receives messages using telephones or switchboards
  • contacts housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems
  • reviews information from previous shifts and discusses sell strategies with supervisor
  • places service assurance calls to guests within 30 minutes of arrival
  • familiarizes with VIP and group folders verifying proper arrangements
  • follows guest services AM/PM checklist
  • assists guests with luggage using proper handling techniques and bell carts
  • issues luggage claim tags and stores luggage when necessary
  • ensures timely delivery of guest messages, mail, and faxes
  • responds to guest inquiries and directs guests
  • explains key system use and ensures guest satisfaction with room
  • provides accurate directions, information, and recommendations
  • audits registration cards to computerized information
  • corrects errors and resolves guest complaints
  • maintains organization and cleanliness of work areas
  • balances cash daily and prepares deposits
  • complies with management requests
  • adheres to all gaming laws and regulations
