Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Must be bilingual English and Spanish
- Graduate from Medical Office Systems or Billing and Coding Program preferred or six months clinical or hospital experience
- Ability to use computers and related software
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients and team members
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to handle cash and payment transactions
- Ability to work varied shifts and extended hours as needed
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, and stretch as required
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
- Graduate from Medical Office Systems or Billing and Coding Program preferred
- Six months clinical or hospital experience preferred
- Knowledge of PCMH model
- Knowledge of medical billing practices and ICD-10 coding
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Skilled in effective customer service
- Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish
Job Duties
- Accurately enter and maintain patient demographics, insurance, and account information
- Verify insurance benefits for new and established patients, including indigent and sliding fee scale verification
- Communicate with patients and families in English and Spanish regarding charges, policies, and collection procedures
- Collect and post payments, reconcile daily deposit slips, and ensure proper application of payments
- Review and monitor accounts for pending insurance or funding sources and conduct collection efforts
- Assist with statistical and special reporting as required by supervisors
- Obtain required signatures on consent forms and provide payment receipts to patients
