Job Requirements
- Graduation from high school or equivalent
- Ability to stand and move throughout front office continuously
- Capacity to stand 95 percent of the shift
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
- Frequent talking, hearing, seeing and smiling
- Ability to use a moderately complex computer system
- Ability to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing
- Ability to perform moderately complex mathematical calculations accurately
- Hearing and visual ability to observe signs of emergency
- Ability to deal with customers patiently and diplomatically
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma preferred
- Prior hospitality experience preferred but not required
- Considerable skill in the use of a calculator
- Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers
- Ability to read, listen and communicate effectively in English
- Ability to access and accurately input information using a computer system
- Ability to observe and detect signs of emergency situations
Job Duties
- Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome
- Use a positive and clear speaking voice and provide accurate information such as outlet hours and local attractions
- Complete the registration process by inputting and retrieving information, confirming guest details and room rate
- Make appropriate room selections based on guest needs
- Code electronic keys, certificates, and coupons as appropriate
- Verify and imprint credit cards for authorization
- Handle cash transactions, make change, and balance assigned house bank
- Accept and record vouchers, travelers’ checks, and other payment forms
- Perform accurate, moderately complex arithmetic functions and post charges to guest rooms and house accounts
- Promptly answer the telephone using positive and clear English communication
- Input and retrieve messages and communicate content to guests
- Retrieve mail, packages, and facsimiles for customers
- Close guest accounts at check out and ensure guest satisfaction
- Research and resolve guest dissatisfaction or refer to a supervisor if needed
- Field guest complaints, research and develop effective solutions
- Remain calm and alert during emergencies and busy hotel activity
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures
- Follow safety and security rules and procedures
- Utilize protective equipment
- Report unsafe conditions and incidents to supervisors
- Maintain neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
- Assist other front desk personnel when needed
- Perform related duties as requested by supervisors or managers
