Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • previous experience in front desk, reservations, concierge, bell desk or night audit
  • work authorization in the United States
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to operate front desk computer systems
  • ability to handle cash transactions accurately
  • knowledge of hotel policies and procedures
  • availability to work varying shifts including mornings, mid-evenings and evenings

  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • adept at handling cash and computer systems
  • customer service oriented
  • ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • knowledge of hotel operations and guest service standards

Job Duties

  • Possess a thorough knowledge of check-in and check-out of guests
  • be completely familiar with all front desk computer operations and procedures for arrivals and departures
  • complete knowledge of the hotel and surrounding area
  • maintain control of all room keys and departmental keys and ensure sign-out procedures are followed
  • handle walk-ins, stay-over and room charges
  • post charges to guests, master bills, and other applicable accounts
  • handle safe keys in accordance with property's procedure
  • know room and rate policies and adjust package rates for fewer or additional night stay
  • look at reservations and future availability
  • have knowledge of room rates, packages and discounts available
  • handle group arrivals and know requirements at check-in and check-out
  • ensure no check-outs with balances due
  • familiarize guests with hotel's facilities
  • read and initial logbook at beginning of shift and review current memos
  • be responsible for own cash drawer and report any discrepancies
  • keep housekeeping informed about early departures, late check-outs and special requests
  • welcome each return guest and acknowledge their return
  • know all safety and emergency procedures
  • attend all front desk meetings
  • perform weekly key inventories
  • have knowledge of telephone, mail and message systems in accordance with the business center
  • maintain knowledge of all forms and vouchers used at front desk and report shortages
  • consistently fill out feedback forms for guest comments and complaints
  • keep supervisors informed of any concerns regarding hotel and front desk
  • understand operations of other front office departments
  • know department heads and their functions
  • undertake any other tasks defined by the front desk supervisor
