Job Duties
- Assure the readiness of the reception area at the start of each working day
- open the building on time and ensure front desk activities are operational
- greet patients and visitors pleasantly and announce appropriately
- register patients according to office protocols
- keep patient appointments on schedule by notifying providers of arrivals and delays
- provide general administrative and clerical support including maintaining faxes
- determine patient financial status and insurance eligibility
- collect co-pays before provider visits
- assist patients with completing forms and document information
- comfort patients by addressing anxieties and answering questions
- collect fees and prepare daily financial registers for billing
- schedule patient appointments optimizing satisfaction and resource utilization
- maintain forms and office supplies
- secure building at close of day according to protocols
- record and update financial information and charges
- maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations
- participate in staff and educational meetings
- manage patient files and respond to medical records requests
- contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks
- obtain authorizations and referrals as needed
- photocopy records for billing or legal services
- communicate issues to supervisor
- perform other related work as required
