Job Requirements

- minimum six months experience in a fast-paced restaurant
- grill and/or sauté experience

Job Duties
- We are looking for team members who take value in their work and strive to create great-tasting food for our customers while working in a family-friendly environment
- As a host, you will greet guests in a friendly, and courteous manner as they enter the restaurant
- The host/hostess is responsible for a great first impression and practices excellent customer service, even in stressful situations
- The host/hostess directs all customers to their seats and provides them with a menu
- Answers the telephone at the front desk and makes reservations in a timely and efficient manner
- Follow all policies and procedures consistent with the mission of Dukunoo Jamaican Kitchen
- Meet all uniform, appearance, and grooming standards as specified by the company
- Greet guests within the first 30 seconds of guests entering the restaurant
- Handle reservations and waitlists promptly
- Follow all sanitation and safety standards set forth by the company
- Provide guests with menus and inform them of their server’s name upon seating
- Make guest reservations, record names, and the number of people in the party
- Provide guests with an estimated waiting time when immediate seating is limited
- Call out the name and number of parties when tables become available
- Accommodate special seating requests for guests whenever possible
- Ensure reservations for large parties are communicated to management and kitchen staff to ensure prompt service
- Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve problems such as double bookings
- Knowledgeable about menu items offered at the restaurant and be able to explain specials to guests
- Maintain a waitlist when immediate seating is limited and seat guests as soon as a table becomes available
- Follow procedures on how to rotate tables properly so that servers receive the correct number of seatings
- Follow all end-of-shift checkout procedures as outlined by the company
- Maintain a collaborative working relationship by assisting other team members with their if needed
- Assist servers with wiping down tables and ensuring that the dining and serving areas are kept clean and properly set up
- Thanks to guests as they leave and invite them to return
- Attend all-employee meetings and offer creative ideas and suggestions for improvement
- Answer telephone calls in a professional manner when making reservations by phone which must be done with accuracy
- Inspect restrooms for cleanliness and availability of supplies and ensure restroom is always kept clean
- Must be knowledgeable about the menu and be ready to answer customers’ questions about allergies and dietary restrictions
