Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- ability to work varied shifts including night, weekends, and holidays
- effective communication skills with customers
- ability to conduct visual inspections, read and follow production guides, recipes, and product labels
- ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, division, multiplication
- mental alertness and ability to handle equipment safely
- complete training courses and meet productivity and accuracy standards
- compliance with personal protective equipment requirements such as hair net, beard net, gloves
- use of cleaning chemicals and safe food handling
- ability to stand, walk, move rapidly for extended periods
- capability to bend, stoop, twist, turn, reach in tight areas
- lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- handle refrigerated goods in cold environments
- work around high heat machinery
- food handler’s certification as required by law
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- previous experience in food service or retail fresh foods department is advantageous
- knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
- ability to operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, fryers, ovens, and dishwashers
- strong communication and customer service skills
- ability to follow recipes and production guides accurately
- basic math skills
- capacity to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain mental alertness
- willingness to complete training and meet productivity standards
- food handler’s certification as per state laws
Job Duties
- Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers
- maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on taking care of the customer
- take orders, answer questions, and perform suggestive selling
- prepare, stock, display, straighten, and rotate product in fresh food areas including deli, seafood, and pizza
- prepare production items according to recipes, food safety procedures, and specified cooking times
- handle frozen product
- inspect all product for quality and freshness
- prepare cases by putting product in fresh pans, rotating product, refilling
- place proper signage including pricing, description, code dating, and COOL information on required products
- clean and maintain department equipment such as fryers, slicers, dishwasher by breaking down and reassembling equipment
- maintain clean and sanitary department by washing parts, tables, wrapping stations, taking out trash, cleaning floors, coolers, and glass display counters
- receive inventory, stock shelves, verify receipt of ordered product and orders
- follow strict sanitary guidelines and complete associated records
- perform other duties as assigned or needed
- understand and follow all food safety procedures and requirements
