Job Requirements
- baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
- two years of satisfactory full-time experience in city planning
- or equivalent combination of education and experience
- graduate education in city planning, urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, transportation engineering, public administration, economic development or related fields may substitute for experience
- permanent service as City Planner or reachable on civil service list Exam No. 5045
- valid New York State driver's license preferred
- ability to maintain license throughout employment
- eligibility for placement in Assignment Level III or IV requires additional years of professional experience
- adherence to residency requirement within NYC for first two years
- ability to work 35 hours per week 9AM to 5PM
- capacity to engage in outreach and public interaction

Job Qualifications

- or a satisfactory combination of education and experience equivalent to above
- graduate education in related fields may substitute for experience
- knowledge of transportation policy, planning, operations, and technology
- ability to think and act strategically
- experience analyzing, interpreting, and communicating transportation performance issues
- strong data analysis and report writing skills
- experience with community engagement
- proficiency in MS Office Suite, ArcGIS, and/or Adobe Suite
- valid New York State driver’s license preferred
Job Duties
- support planning and coordination of freight program and pilot implementations
- conduct outreach to the public related to existing and forthcoming freight programs and initiatives
- review and respond to public inquiries related to freight programs and pilots
- conduct studies and prepare reports and analyses
- make recommendations on policies and procedures related to freight programs and pilots
- support identification and development of street improvement projects to improve safety in high truck crash corridors and along truck routes
