Job Requirements

  • Forklift driver qualification
  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • ability to safely operate forklift and other dock equipment
  • ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • willingness to report unsafe conditions
  • physical ability to lift and move freight
  • commitment to safety

Job Qualifications

  • Forklift driver qualification
  • ability to follow safety protocols and operational procedures
  • experience working in freight dock or LTL environment preferred
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to operate scanning and inspection equipment
  • physical capability to handle manual freight movement
  • teamwork and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Maintain a focus on safety at all times
  • request assistance as needed to perform work safely
  • report unsafe conditions to supervisor
  • follow written and oral instructions in a freight dock/LTL environment
  • operate forklift to load or move material and products
  • move freight by hand when required
  • load and unload freight to/from trailers, containers and straight trucks
  • transport freight from storage dock area or trailers to designated area
  • use straps, load bars and dunnage to secure freight in trailers and containers to prevent damage in transit
  • stack freight onto pallets and secure with shrink wrap, tape and other packaging material
  • use scales and dimensioning machines to inspect freight
  • use scanning technology to track every movement of every shipment
  • maintain an accurate count of pallets in each shipment
  • attach identifying tags or labels to freight or mark information on cases, pallets and other shipment packaging as required
  • report damaged and missing freight to supervisor
  • clean work area, trailers, containers and forklifts
  • participate in team efforts to achieve department and company goals
