Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • One to three months related experience and or training
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Forklift driver qualification
  • Hazardous material training
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
  • Good judgment in solving problems
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to write routine correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Communicates internally with operations and dock supervisor
  • Good judgment in solving problems and dealing with a variety of personalities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Job Duties

  • Read work order or follow oral instructions to determine materials or containers to be moved
  • Load and unload freight and count onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves
  • Load freight into vehicles and install blocking, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
  • Transport freight from storage dock area or trailers to designated area
  • Secure lifting attachments to freight and convey load to move load to destination
  • Attach identifying tags or labels to freight or mark information on cases, bales, pallets, and other shipping packages
  • Stack or assemble freight into bundles and band bundles together on pallets
  • Clean work area, machines and equipment to assist machine operators
  • Operate industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving material and products
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
