Job Requirements

  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Willingness to submit to a criminal background check
  • Previous experience in food service, culinary arts, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a hot kitchen environment
  • Flexibility and willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by camp schedule
  • Desire to serve

Job Duties

  • Prepare nutritious and delicious meals in accordance with specified menus, dietary requirements, and portion sizes
  • Assist in planning menus, considering factors such as nutritional balance, dietary restrictions, and camper preferences
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards at all times, including proper food handling, storage, and cleanliness of kitchen facilities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen environment
  • Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and storing food supplies and kitchen equipment
  • Operate kitchen appliances and equipment safely and efficiently, following manufacturer instructions and guidelines
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff members to coordinate meal preparation and service schedules
  • Communicate effectively with camp directors and other staff to ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen and address any dietary concerns or special requests
  • Assist with general camp duties and activities outside of kitchen responsibilities, as needed
  • Maintain a positive and supportive attitude, contributing to a welcoming and inclusive camp environment for campers and staff alike
