Job Requirements
- One year of food service experience
- completion of a vocational or technical school program in a food service area
- ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
- ability to operate kitchen equipment
- ability to follow safety and sanitary guidelines
- U.S. citizenship or lawful work authorization
- registration with Selective Service System for eligible males
- successful completion of state and national background screening
- adherence to tobacco-free workplace policies
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- completion of application with verifiable employment history
Job Qualifications
- One year of food service experience
- completion of a vocational or technical school program in food service
- knowledge of cooking, baking, and meat cutting equipment and techniques
- knowledge of sanitary working procedures
- ability to follow recipes and instructions
- ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work
- ability to maintain effective working relationships
Job Duties
- Acts as a cook in the dietary department of a large mental health hospital
- estimates food requirements and prepares and cooks hot and cold food items according to menu and recipes
- places and maintains food on serving lines
- cuts and debones ham, poultry, and fish
- slices meat according to menu needs
- utilizes leftover meat
- operates mixing machines, meat saw, slicer, and grinder
- sharpens knives as needed
- lifts and carries up to 50 pounds
- turns on and sets temperature on grills, stoves, deep fryer, and broiler
- maintains equipment in working order and reports malfunctions
- maintains clean and sanitary working areas
- assists in unloading and loading delivery trucks
- drives truck when necessary
- transports food carts to wards
- assists in dishwashing
- attends in-service training and performs related duties as assigned
