Job Requirements
- be at least 19 years old
- successfully complete drug screening and background screening
- pass sex offender check and criminal background checks
- able to work overtime with little or no notice
- comply with shift schedule requirements including rotating shifts
- valid driver’s license if required
- maintain compliance with Florida state driver’s license laws if applicable
Job Qualifications
- knowledge of general food safety and sanitation practices
- ability to use food service equipment
- ability to stand for long periods
- ability to perform some heavy lifting, pulling and squatting
- basic mathematical skills including measuring, adding and deducting
- ability to follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point requirements
- ability to work shift schedules including evenings, weekends and holidays
Job Duties
- store, prepare and serve food to youth and staff in a secure facility
- work at all assigned stations in the food service area
- prepare all types of foods from preliminary stage to finished state
- prepare and cook foods and supplemental items for various diets
- follow set menu or special diet orders as directed
- interpret menu and correctly fill meals for youth and staff
- set up and break down food service line as assigned
- perform general cleaning duties in kitchen, storage, dish room and food service line
- use appropriate cleaning products according to instructions
- wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils following sanitation methods
- carry trash and refuse to disposal and dumpster
- clean trash cans
- assist in unloading and loading delivery trucks
- complete documentation for Child Nutrition Programs including temperature logs, storage records and production records
- assist in or conduct inventory of food, supplies, small wares and equipment
- use all food service equipment including food processor, slicer, fryer or mixer
- adhere to food safety guidelines during cooking, storing and cleaning
- understand and follow Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point requirements
- verify food storage, preparation and serving temperatures
- prepare assigned reports supporting food temperature compliance
- attend training and incorporate learning into daily job duties
- perform other related duties as assigned
