Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Basic math skills
- Customer service skills
- Ability to use kitchen and dish room tools
- Skilled in safe sanitary and effective handling of food cooking utensils equipment refrigeration elevators cash registers dishwashers time clock
- Ability to read and interpret routine written materials menus instructions emails
- Ability to handle varying workloads meet deadlines
- Effective verbal and written communication
- Use of knives slicers potato peelers and small kitchen equipment
- Understanding and demonstration of housing and food services core values
- Basic understanding of nutrition and portion control
- Ability to apply time and attendance guidelines with system use
- Physical perseverance for fast-paced demanding work
- Exposure to disagreeable conditions such as greasy materials slippery floors exposure to chemicals odors
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods and adapt to varying kitchen temperatures
- Ability to climb stairs as needed
- Willingness to work nights weekends and during university closings
- General supervision from restaurant manager
- Safe Food Handling and Sanitation Certification may be required
- Hepatitis A vaccine upon hire
- Background check required
- Driver's license check required

Job Duties
- Prepares produces and/or sets up and serves food items including daily specials and menus
- Stocks and stores food service items receiving rotating and dispensing food commodities
- Utilizes kitchen utensils appliances and heavy equipment in food preparation
- Operates manual and automatic kitchen equipment such as ovens grills dishwashers mixers and slicers
- Promotes safe and healthy workplace by identifying unsafe practices equipment and removing refuse
- Provides professional and exceptional customer service
- Adheres to university policies and health department standards for quality and safety
- Performs additional duties as needed to fulfill job functions
