Job Requirements

  • one year of experience in high-volume food production preparation in an institutional, restaurant, or bakery environment
  • knowledge of safety practices for kitchen and food preparation equipment
  • knowledge of operation of kitchen equipment
  • knowledge of standard sanitation and cleaning practices
  • knowledge of food preparation and service
  • ability to perform physically exerting work including lifting in excess of 40 pounds, standing for long periods, bending, and reaching
  • exposure to moisture, noise, and heat
  • may require prolonged work in refrigerated areas
  • possession of a valid California Class C driver's license
  • completion of an authorized food handler's training course

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of operation of kitchen equipment
  • knowledge of standard sanitation and cleaning practices
  • knowledge of food preparation and service
  • ability to perform physically exerting work including lifting in excess of 40 pounds, standing for long periods, bending, and reaching
  • ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish is highly desirable
  • possession of a valid California Class C driver's license
  • completion of an authorized food handler's training course

Job Duties

  • assist in preparing main meals
  • clean and prepare fruits and vegetables for cooking
  • prepare salads, drinks, and simple desserts
  • portion all food items and ensure proper temperatures are maintained in accordance with food safety standards
  • clean basic kitchen equipment including pots, pans, and dishes
  • clean and sweep floors when needed
  • vacuum dining area and entrance when needed
  • assist in serving prepared food on serving line
  • serve in dining room when needed
  • operate kitchen equipment such as potato peeler, mixer, blender, steamer, kettle, coffee machine
  • make minor adjustments to equipment
  • operate equipment in a safe manner
  • assist in unloading and putting away items
  • perform other related duties including receiving food and dry goods
