Kaweah Health is a prominent publicly owned community healthcare organization dedicated to providing comprehensive health services to the greater Visalia area in central California. With over 5,000 employees, Kaweah Health operates an extensive eight-campus healthcare district, which includes a 613-bed acute care hospital and several specialized health centers and clinics. This healthcare facility is committed to delivering state-of-the-art medicine and offering high-quality preventive services across a broad continuum of care, ensuring the wellbeing of its diverse patient community.
Kaweah Health stands out in the healthcare sector not only for its size and the range of services it offers but also for its deep-rooted commitment to serving a region with critical healthcare needs. The organization continually strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its patients and the wider community it serves. Working at Kaweah Health is an opportunity for individuals who are passionate about healthcare and eager to contribute to a mission focused on healing and exceptional patient care.
The Food Services Worker role at Kaweah Health is a full-time, benefits-eligible position offering a variable 8-hour or less shift schedule. With a competitive pay range of $20.00 to $30.00 per hour, this position is a vital part of the hospital's Food and Nutrition Services department. Employees in this role may be assigned to various tasks that span multiple areas, including dishroom duties, cold food production, patient hosting, assisting cooks, and retail services within the hospital's food service locations.
This multifaceted role requires adaptability and dedication, as the food services workers support the nutrition and hospitality needs of patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities vary depending on campus assignment, such as those at South or West Campus, where duties include rigorous cleaning protocols to ensure hygiene and sanitation, managing patient tray delivery, assisting with catering, and maintaining food safety standards. At Main Campus, food services workers help with trayline setup and service, ensuring food quality and safety, and manage dishwashing and cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas.
The role demands a conscientious approach to food safety, including adhering to HACCP guidelines, proper handling of kitchen equipment, and careful monitoring of food supplies to guarantee service excellence. Effective communication skills in English are essential for interacting with patients and team members, ensuring that food preferences and therapeutic diets are respected. The position also includes a customer service component, especially in retail areas where employees handle food orders, payments, and maintain dining area standards.
Kaweah Health supports its food services workers by providing comprehensive benefits and an environment that values the courage and purpose with which they serve. Joining Kaweah Health means working alongside a team dedicated to making a positive impact in healthcare, supported by a robust organizational framework that fosters growth, learning, and career satisfaction. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with a passion for food service within healthcare and a commitment to supporting patient health through nutrition and compassionate care.
