Job Duties

  • Thoroughly clean all cooking implements, equipment, and serving pieces
  • Store clean items in correct location
  • Clear dirty trays from cafe and patient carts
  • Deliver and pick up patient carts to and from units
  • Sweep and mop floors, wash work tables, walls, and refrigerators
  • Scrape food from dirty dishes, pots, and pans and wash them by hand or place them in a dishwashing machine
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas
  • Clean equipment using appropriate chemicals to ensure sanitary standards
  • Work on any station of tray line as assigned
  • Check tray for accuracy to menu
  • Move carts loaded with dishes or trays to appropriate areas
  • Deliver patient trays upon request
  • Operate dishroom equipment correctly
  • Check and document dish machine temperatures and take appropriate action if needed
  • Dispose of garbage according to department standards
  • Keep all work areas clean and orderly
  • Assist with catering setup and cleanup as needed
  • Prepare food in cold food production
  • Taste products, read menus, estimate food requirements, check production, and keep records
  • Monitor all Food Service areas to ensure proper food coverage, labeling, and dating
  • Visit patients for food selections within therapeutic diet parameters
  • Monitor pantry areas, record refrigerator temperatures and replenish food supplies
  • Maintain patient food records
  • Assist cook in food preparation
  • Follow HACCP guidelines and practices
  • Provide excellent customer service in retail area
  • Operate cash register and handle transactions
  • Prepare dining area before and clean up after meals
  • Ensure security of cash
  • Set up and stock beverage area
  • Set up and assemble trays for trayline
  • Sanitize carts and clean trayline stations
  • Roll silverware and maintain cleanliness of the tray make-up area
  • Use correct chemicals for cleaning and follow PPE safety procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to population served
  • Perform other duties as assigned
