Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • prior food service experience preferred
  • ability to work flexible, variable shifts
  • basic English communication skills
  • capability to follow detailed instructions
  • ability to stand, bend, lift, and perform physical tasks
  • willingness to comply with safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to use cleaning chemicals safely

Job Duties

  • thoroughly clean all cooking implements, equipment, and serving pieces
  • store clean items correctly
  • clear dirty trays from cafe and patient carts
  • deliver and pick up patient carts
  • sweep and mop floors
  • wash work tables, walls, and refrigerators
  • scrape and wash dishes, pots, and pans
  • transfer supplies and equipment manually or with carts
  • clean equipment with appropriate chemicals
  • operate dishroom and tray line equipment
  • check trays for accuracy
  • deliver patient trays
  • check and document dish machine temperatures
  • dispose of garbage according to standards
  • monitor food service areas for proper coverage, labeling, and dating of foods
  • assist with catering setup and cleanup
  • prepare food and bakery items
  • visit patients for food selections and preferences
  • maintain pantry and refrigeration records
  • assist in retail food service operations including cash handling
  • stock beverage and work areas
  • assemble trays and maintain hygiene in tray line
  • follow HACCP guidelines
  • maintain cleanliness and organization in work areas
  • use proper personal protective equipment
  • perform other assigned duties
