Job Requirements
- high school diploma or equivalent
- valid ServeSafe certification
- ability to work under general supervision
- experience working in food service preferably in custodial or institutional settings
- ability to maintain security protocols
- good communication skills
- ability to lift and carry food containers
- reliability and dependability
- ability to pass background investigation
- ability to pass polygraph examination
- legal right to work in the United States

Job Duties
- drive to jail or other locations to pick up prepared food for the juvenile justice center
- load food containers in vehicle
- receive bulk meals delivered to the juvenile justice center
- unload food containers at the center
- refrigerate or place food containers in steam tables to maintain temperature
- prepare for serving meals in dining room including counting and setting out silverware
- portion out food onto trays
- check special dietary food trays for ordered requirements
- set up and clear tables in the dining room
- prepare and load food trays for youth without dining room privileges
- clean dining room and kitchen areas including hot food warmers with assistance from detained youth
- wash, dry, stack, and put away trays, pans, and kitchen utensils
- clean tables, benches, chairs, cupboards, storerooms, refrigerators, and other equipment
- sweep and mop floors
- empty garbage
- maintain hygienic and sanitary standards in kitchen and dining rooms
- follow security procedures including counting silverware, activating alarms, and reporting movement of youth in custody
