Job Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or GED
- Hepatitis A vaccine or annual testing required
- Physical and mental perseverance for fast-paced responsibilities
- Ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs depending on assignment
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
- Exposure to kitchen chemicals and noxious odors
- Ability to work in temperatures ranging from 8 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit
- Compliance with University of Oklahoma Tuberculosis Testing policy
- Hiring contingent upon background and police records check
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Proficiency in using kitchen tools and small equipment
- Skilled in safe, sanitary, and effective handling of food and cooking utensils
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic for inventory, portion control, and timesheets
- Effective communication skills in English, both oral and written
- Understanding and demonstration of Housing and Food Services core values
- Basic knowledge of nutrition and portion control
- Ability to use time and attendance systems
- Capacity to handle varying workloads and meet deadlines
- Experience with refrigeration, elevators, cash registers, dishwashers, and time clocks helpful
Job Duties
- Prepare food following recipes and applying individual portion control standards
- Properly measure, weigh and combine ingredients for quantity preparation of simple menu items
- Utilize various kitchen utensils, appliances, and heavy/industrial equipment in food preparation
- Serve food in a courteous and respectful manner with proper portion control and menu knowledge
- Load, carry, and transport hot or cold food items or containers to customers, serving lines, or dining tables safely and efficiently
- Wash, sanitize, and store pots, pans, and kitchen utensils in designated areas
- Clean counters, floors, tables, and serving areas adhering to proper kitchen sanitation standards
