Job Requirements

  • must be 18 years or older
  • hepatitis A vaccine required or annual testing
  • ability to lift up to 58 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • able to work in temperatures ranging from 8 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit
  • willing to climb stairs as needed
  • able to work nights and weekends
  • willing to comply with tuberculosis testing policy
  • perseverance for fast-paced kitchen environment
  • exposure to greasy and dirty materials and noxious odors
  • able to handle repetitive arm and wrist movements

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED
  • skilled in safe and sanitary handling of food and kitchen equipment
  • able to communicate effectively in English
  • basic understanding of nutrition and portion control
  • capable of using kitchen tools such as knives, peelers, slicers with reasonable proficiency
  • proficient in basic math for inventory and portion control
  • demonstrate Housing and Food Services core values
  • reliable and able to meet deadlines

Job Duties

  • prepare food following recipes and apply portion control standards
  • measure, weigh, and combine ingredients for menu items
  • use kitchen utensils, appliances, and industrial equipment safely
  • serve food courteously with proper portion control and menu knowledge
  • transport hot or cold food items to customers and serving areas safely and efficiently
  • wash, sanitize, and store pots, pans, and kitchen utensils
  • maintain cleanliness of counters, floors, and dining areas
  • assist with special events and collaborate with other food service staff
