Job Requirements
- Education typically acquired through high school
- Four years of food preparation experience including three years equivalent to Cook E6 or two years equivalent to Cook 7
- Or associate degree in dietetics, food services management, hotel, restaurant and institution management, or human nutrition with two years food preparation experience including one year equivalent to Cook E6
- Or bachelor’s degree in relevant fields with no experience required
- No felony convictions or pending felony charges
- Compliance with state ethical standards
- Ability to report conflicts of interest
- Willingness to complete required new employee training
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Four years experience in quantity cooking and food preparation, including three years equivalent to Cook E6 or two years equivalent to Cook 7
- Ability to train and supervise subordinate staff and prisoner workers
- Knowledge of nutritional standards and safe food handling procedures
- Experience working in a regulated food service environment
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Job Duties
- Direct the work of subordinate staff and prisoner workers during a food service shift
- Oversee preparation and serving of three daily meals including general, religious, and therapeutic diets
- Ensure compliance with policy directives, State-Wide menu, nutritional standards, and safe food handling practices
- Train prisoner workers in quantity food preparation and serving
- Maintain proper sanitation and safety, including environmental and fire safety standards
- Collaborate with custody staff to uphold safety and security within the correctional facility
- Manage food service operations while ensuring adherence to correctional facility policies
