Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- one year related experience required
- three years hospital food service, food service, diet representative experience, or diet technician experience preferred
- food handlers card required upon hire
- willingness to work varied days and weekends
- ability to work varied hours between 10 am and 9 pm
- strong organizational and leadership skills
- ability to comply with health and safety regulations
- ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure

Job Duties
- Open and close the department at beginning and end of shift
- adjust staffing for absenteeism and workload
- assign tasks and coordinate preparation and production of food for all service points
- lead, direct, and assign work to assigned staff
- check production tally against patient census, cafeteria requirements, retail areas, diet office, and catering
- adjust food amounts to meet projected volume
- prepare and complete food items for service as needed
- assume grill cooking and entrée service tasks as required
- monitor flow of customers at cash register stations and resolve cashiering conflicts and delays
- monitor use of equipment and perform preventative maintenance
- monitor patient menu selection process for nutritional balance and compliance with physician orders
- ensure modified diet standards are met and dietary restrictions explained to patients
- supervise Diet Office activities and ensure accurate and timely processing of diet orders and meal calls
- maintain records of meals served, nourishment preparation and delivery, and tube feeding prescriptions
- inspect all areas for compliance with Maricopa County Health Department Food Code
- maintain sanitation standards and assure compliance with nutrition protocols, infection control, food safety, OSHA, and health regulations
- train and retrain staff, evaluate competencies and skills, report performance issues
- resolve problems and service disruptions with high customer service standards
- assist with additional duties such as meal assembly, tray passing, and dining call processing as needed
- plan, schedule, and coordinate catering for events including menu selection, forecasting products required, and arranging rental items
- prepare food and serve catering clients
