Job Requirements

  • Successful background check
  • verification of legal right to work in the United States within 72 hours of employment
  • School Nutrition Specialist certification obtained within 6 months of hire
  • ServSafe Manager certification required within 3 months of employment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in management or food and nutrition services preferred
  • five years or more of related experience including managing multiple locations required
  • prior school food service experience preferred
  • equivalent combination of education and experience considered

Job Duties

  • Upholds CEC's beliefs found on the CEC website
  • manages food service personnel in food production, inventory management, sanitation procedures, work schedules, Point-of-Sale management and training, cash collection systems, safety record keeping, purchasing, bids for food and non-food items, proper handling and use of commercial food and USDA commodities
  • provides training as needed to kitchen staff and food services coordinators
  • collaborates on budgeting with the Food Services Business Manager under Executive Director of Operations' supervision
  • oversees recipe and menu development with nutrient analysis
  • coordinates kitchen equipment repairs
  • sets food, meal, and vending machine snack prices according to CDE rules
  • supports National School Lunch and Breakfast Program
  • serves as Subject Matter Expert for assigned Food Services Department applications
  • conducts employee interviews and implements training
  • manages NSLP menu management and compliance with CDE, CSI, and CEC standards
  • builds a positive, team-centered kitchen culture
  • serves as a substitute in kitchen production roles as needed
  • maintains record-keeping and documentation
  • supports front of house design, processes, and expectations
  • drives quality assurance, meal schedules, food production sheets, innovative recipes, and creative designs
  • ensures compliance with food safety laws and guidelines and documents training
  • attends meetings and professional development as directed
  • manages CEC's Farm-to-School program
  • performs other duties as assigned
