Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum one year experience in restaurant or hospital waiter/waitress role preferred
  • Allergen Awareness Certification from VA State required within 180 days
  • Food Handlers Card or Food Protection Manager Certification from VA State required within 30 days
  • Ability to follow hospital policies and infection control procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to follow infection control and safety guidelines
  • Competence in customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to operate POS systems and software relevant to the role

Job Duties

  • Follows standard service protocols as outlined in the Guest Service Training manual
  • Supports the Food & Nutrition Service department and clinical teams in providing excellent patient, guest, and team member service
  • Responsible for assisting in the food tray make-up area by starting, assembling, and/or checking and loading completed patient food trays
  • Delivers patient trays to patient bedside and/or nursing units within established time limits
  • Demonstrates competence to complete cold food prep and assembly assignments as well as preparation of handcrafted specialty coffee/teas
  • Stocks put away and rotated to ensure FIFO in a timely manner without expired stock
  • Uses Room Service software when assisting patients with telephone call backs or personal visitation
  • Operates the POS cash register, takes money, makes change, and provides customer service in retail
  • Demonstrates ability to use time effectively and aids other workers during heavy workload
  • Assists in maintaining food cost through accuracy of recording meal orders and tray delivery
