Job Requirements

  • Applicant must meet all position requirements by the date of application
  • Ability to work full-time based on a 40-hour workweek
  • Experience counted on a full-time basis with part-time hours pro-rated
  • Temporary assignment experience must be verified and documented

  • Ability to operate vehicles safely and maintain vehicle cleanliness
  • Adherence to USDA training and meal preparation standards
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and inventory recording tasks

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in food service or meal preparation preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to operate food service vehicles safely
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy loads
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training and development

Job Duties

  • Coordinate and work closely with food service employees to ensure timely meal preparation to meet service and delivery schedules
  • Assist in preparing school meals by cooking simple starches, cleaning and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, and supporting dietary-specific meal preparation
  • Operate food service vehicle to transport meals, food items, equipment, and staff
  • load and unload vehicle safely with or without assistance
  • Maintain documentation related to delivery and food service duties
  • Review daily production records and verify servings for satellite meal service
  • Portion and pack menu items accurately
  • Document food time and temperature on service site records
  • Set up serving counters, serve students and staff, and replenish food and supplementary items as needed
  • Wash kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Clean and maintain work areas, serving counters, dining areas, and washrooms to sanitary standards
  • Receive provisions, document temperatures, report discrepancies, date and store goods properly
  • Record supplies used and assist in monthly inventory and record maintenance
  • Supervise student helpers assigned to kitchen or delivery as needed
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance on food service vehicles
  • Attend staff meetings, workshops, and required USDA training sessions
