Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in food service or meal preparation preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate food service vehicles safely
- Knowledge of basic food safety and sanitation practices
- Capacity to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Willingness to participate in ongoing training and professional development
Job Duties
- Coordinates and works closely with other food service employees to ensure menu items are prepared in a timely manner to meet meal service times and/or satellite delivery schedule
- Assists in the preparation of school meals by cooking simple starches, cleaning and preparing fresh fruits and vegetables, and assisting with the preparation of meal items for students with dietary needs
- Operates a food service vehicle to transport prepared meals, food items, food carts, related equipment, and supplies
- Loads and unloads vehicle safely with/without assistance
- Maintains routine documentation related to delivery and food service duties
- Reviews daily production and serving site records
- Verifies the number of food servings to be delivered
- Portions and packs menu items for each satellite meal service
- Documents time and temperature of foods during loading and packing
- Sets up serving counters for meal service and serves students and staff
- Replenishes food and supplementary items as needed
- Washes kitchen equipment and utensils
- Cleans and maintains work areas, serving counters, dining areas, and washrooms
- Sanitizes utensils and equipment after use
- Sweeps, scrubs, and mops floors
- Receives provisions ordered and documents product temperature
- Reports discrepancies to the School Food Services Manager
- Dates and stores goods properly
- Records supplies and ingredients used
- Assists in monthly inventory and routine record maintenance
- Supervises student helpers assigned to kitchen/delivery
- Performs minor preventive maintenance on food service vehicle
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training
- Achieves annual minimum required training hours as outlined by USDA
