Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two to five years related experience and/or training in the food service industry
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification
  • Strong commitment to Christian values and ethics
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform kitchen duties
  • Ability to work in wet, humid, and moderate noise environments
  • Willingness to travel for training and temporary duty assignments
  • Capability to instruct and train others in food safety and hygiene practices

Job Qualifications

  • Christian commitment and ability to exemplify Christian behaviors and values
  • Possess high levels of ethics, honesty, and character
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Two to five years related experience and/or training in food service industry
  • Experience in food services management is a plus
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ServSafe certification
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capability to train and guide staff and clients
  • Knowledge of food safety and public health standards

Job Duties

  • Obtain and maintain ServSafe certification
  • Complete inventories of kitchen supplies and ensure that temperature logs are maintained
  • Manage the development of healthy weekly menus for clients and schedule staffing for meal preparation, service, and clean-up
  • Oversee the development, placement, and reception of orders for food and other kitchen supplies
  • Ensure that all food products are refrigerated, cooked, thawed, and served in a safe and timely manner
  • Maintain facilities appliances, equipment, and stored food in accordance with ServSafe guidelines and public health directives
  • Ensure proper cooking of all meats at required temperatures for prescribed lengths of time
  • Mark and properly store all donated cooked foods with date and time in refrigeration units
  • Clean and sanitize cooking and serving surfaces and ensure floors are free of grease and safety hazards
  • Instruct staff and clients in proper hand washing techniques and practices
  • Inspect kitchen using AGRM compliance checklists
  • Coordinate Thanksgiving and Christmas community meals
  • Train clients working in the kitchen to support their recovery
  • Maintain and provide training on department Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Attend training and temporary duty travel as necessary
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or Mission management
