Job Requirements

  • food handler's certificate issued by the county health department
  • equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
  • some paid or volunteer experience in serving and preparation of foods is desirable
  • demonstrate dependability and cleanliness
  • good health and willingness to work
  • free from communicable disease
  • ability to lift and transport quantities of food or ingredients
  • ability to stand for sustained periods of time

Job Qualifications

  • equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade
  • knowledge of basic methods and materials used in fast food preparation, serving and transporting of food
  • knowledge of food preparation methods such as washing, cutting, assembling and wrapping foods or ingredients
  • knowledge of basic food serving utensils and equipment
  • knowledge of basic sanitation and safety procedures related to the preparation and serving of food
  • ability to lift and transport quantities of food or ingredients
  • ability to stand for sustained periods of time and work efficiently during rush conditions
  • ability to count, add, subtract and tally series of numbers
  • ability to keep simple records and make change quickly and accurately
  • ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • ability to maintain cooperative relationships

Job Duties

  • assists in the preparation, packaging and serving of food
  • washes dishes and kitchen equipment
  • assists in requisitioning, receiving and storage of foods and supplies
  • assists in maintaining proper care of equipment and sanitation of the kitchen
  • may act as cashier, collecting money, making change and counting totals
  • participates in district in-service programs
