Job Duties

  • assist cook in preparing desserts or snacks for patients
  • assist cook in preparation of meals
  • carry trays to patients on halls
  • clean tables in dining area after each meal
  • help with salads and desserts and other dishes
  • assist with pouring juice, milk, water, and tea
  • serve patients beverages
  • take meals out to patients in dining area
  • prepare between-meal nourishments
  • clean work area at end of shift and after meals including sweeping and mopping
  • remove garbage from kitchen areas and hose out garbage containers
  • comply with infection control policies
  • scrape dishes, wash dishes, pots and pans
  • record freezer and walk-in refrigerator temperatures
  • check stock as needed
  • put up stock appropriately
  • store cleaning materials appropriately
  • set up tray line and perform tray line service
  • follow diet and NPO orders
  • offer menu substitutions and record them
  • properly store leftovers and opened food
  • serve nourishments per guidelines
  • make coffee and tea as requested
  • follow procedures for serving associate meals
  • clean kitchen equipment such as carts, tables, counters, ice machine, buckets, blender, mixer, meat slicer, freezer, refrigerator, stove, oven, steamer, garbage disposal, dish machine coffee/tea maker, steam table
  • operate dish machine, garbage disposal, mixer, blender, meat slicer, steamer
  • operate coffee and tea maker
  • follow standardized recipes
  • use serving equipment
  • check and record water temperature
  • check dishwasher with sanitizer strips
  • check chemical levels and replace if needed
  • participate in Nursing Center surveys and reports
  • attend continuing education and mandatory in-services
  • honor patients rights to treatment, privacy, and civil rights
  • comply with Corporate Compliance Program
  • report job-related hazards including exposure to blood and body fluids
  • follow safety regulations including fire protection, smoking, infection control
  • comply with privacy and security programs
  • perform other related duties as directed
