Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in food service or cashiering preferred
- Ability to stand for long periods
- Ability to follow safety and sanitation guidelines
- Reliable transportation to Sentara Heart Hospital location
- Ability to work flexible hours including mornings and afternoons
- Willingness to learn and receive training
- Pass a background check if required

- Prior subway or sub shop experience preferred
- Ability to perform cashiering duties accurately
- Experience with food prep and sanitation standards
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to work mornings and afternoons with flexible schedules
- Basic math skills for handling cash transactions

- Ability to maintain cleanliness and follow safety protocols
Job Duties
- Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables
- Weigh and measure designated ingredients
- Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards
- Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment
- Store foods in designated areas in accordance with wrapping, dating, and food safety and rotation procedures
- Clean work areas, equipment and utensils
- Ensure compliance with sanitation and safety requirements
- Use approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control
- Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service
- Interact with customers and resolve customer complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner
- Relay relevant information to supervisor
- Perform sales transactions
- Enter sales into the cash register to ensure purchases are accurately recorded
- Make change, accept declining balance cards and other acceptable forms of payment
- Issue receipts to customers
- Follow standard procedures for issuing cash refunds
- Responsible for all assigned change funds and cash receipts, ensuring that cash drawer is in compliance with overage/shortage standards
- Replenish condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining service area cleanliness
- Perform other duties as assigned
