Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience in institutional food service or restaurant preferred
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and pushing
  • Dependability and flexibility
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation regulations

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred
  • Passionate about food and service
  • Solid understanding of food handling regulations
  • Ability to work as a team member and independently

Job Duties

  • Supervise inmate labor and/or team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts
  • Prepare, assist, or instruct inmate labor and/or team members in the preparation of quality foods according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions
  • Ensure that all food is stored properly and in a sanitary manner
  • Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures
  • Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare and serve food according to recipes and nutritional needs
  • Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling and storage
  • Train other food service workers
  • Maintain a clean work environment including cleaning refrigerators, freezers, cooking and serving equipment
  • Follow facility uniform policy
  • Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean from excess food and trash
  • Ensure kitchen is kept clean and ready for food prep/serving including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
  • Review proper portions and utensils for service
  • Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
