Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for Federal employment as determined by background check
- Passes urinalysis for illegal drug use
- Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Complete online onboarding and provide acceptable identification

- Willingness to serve a 1-year probationary period
- Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 40 pounds and working in hot, humid conditions
- Availability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications
- Evidence of training or experience sufficient to perform the duties
- Ability to lead or supervise
- Knowledge of work practices including maintaining cleanliness and order
- Ability to interpret instructions and specifications other than blueprints
- Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment
- Knowledge of food service materials
- Ability to operate with dexterity and safety
- Experience preparing performance evaluations and managing employee attendance
- Familiarity with sanitation regulations and food safety standards
- Effective communication and organizational skills
- Capable of managing emergency situations and adjusting workflows
Job Duties
- Supervises all areas of food production and service including food preparation, nourishment, tray delivery and retrieval
- Makes rounds on patient wards and takes corrective action for food service problems
- Receives and inspects deliveries and requisitions supplies
- Ensures efficient sanitation in Nutrition and Food Service
- Conducts menu conferences and completes scheduling and reporting
- Monitors and supervises employee performance and attendance
- Provides guidance and adjusts assignments to ensure work completion
- Operates within established VA and hospital policies and procedures
- Ensures availability of food supply items for meal service
- Establishes priorities for daily operations including emergencies
- Instructs subordinates on work operations and quality standards
- Changes work plans and methods to reduce costs and improve efficiency
- Provides training in equipment maintenance and sanitation procedures
- Maintains inventory and conducts quality assurance and sanitation reviews
- Supervises tray assembly operation and coordinates with multidisciplinary teams
- Performs other related duties as assigned
