Job Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Suitable for federal employment as determined by background investigation
- Passing urinalysis for illegal drug use
- Selective service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Evidence of training or experience demonstrating ability to perform duties
- Experience in leading or supervising food service workers
- Knowledge of food service sanitation and safety practices
- Ability to interpret instructions and technical practices
- Skill in use and maintenance of food service tools and equipment
- Experience in managing work schedules and employee performance
- Strong customer service orientation
- Ability to work under general supervision and follow established policies
Job Duties
- Supervises all food production and service areas including preparation, nourishment, tray delivery and retrieval, making rounds on patient wards and taking corrective actions
- Receives and inspects deliveries
- Requisitions supplies needed for Food Service areas
- Ensures efficient sanitation throughout Nutrition and Food Service
- Conducts menu conferences, completes schedule assignments, cold prep sheets, temperature records, and tray assembly reports
- Monitors procedures in the Diet Communication Center
- Prepares performance ratings and competencies for employees under supervision
- Supervises employee work performance, discusses issues, monitors attendance and tardiness, and adjusts assignments
- Works under Cook Supervisor/Team Captain supervision ensuring quantity and quality of work
- Promotes customer service and fosters positive relationships within Medical Center
- Operates unit effectively ensuring task completion
- Explains work requirements to ensure food supply availability
- Uses work outlines to direct meal preparations
- Establishes priorities in emergency situations and manages staff accordingly
- Defines quality and quantity standards and reviews work to ensure compliance
- Adjusts work plans and methods to control costs and improve efficiency
- Provides training and instruction on equipment care, sanitation, and modified diet food assembly
- Complies with additional duties as assigned
